Dr. Joanna Carter grew up outside of Portland, Oregon and graduated from Gladstone High School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Linfield College and her Optometry Degree from Pacific University College of Optometry. While in Optometry school, Dr. Carter improved her Spanish-speaking skills through several missions trips to Mexico and Guatemala.

Dr. Carter has post-graduate training in vision therapy, which improves the communication between the eyes and the brain. With therapy, her patients noticed improvements such as: visual clarity and comfort, ease and independence with academics, better eye-hand coordination and improved 3-D vision.

Dr. Carter and her husband Kyle have three busy children: Caroline, Bethany and Boston. They are a “divided household” – Dr. Carter and Bethany are Oregon Ducks fans while Kyle, Caroline and Boston root for the Oregon State Beavers. Dr. Carter also enjoys scrapbooking and fellowship with friends.

Amanda grew up here in the Rogue Valley and graduated from South Medford high school. She attended college at Northwest University in Kirkland WA, where she studied music education. After college, she decided to apply her love of teaching and helping kids in a more physical setting, and spent the better part of 10 years as a gymnastic/dance coach. While working with the younger kids, she became very interested in early childhood development. This led her to help design and run a program that gave kids the opportunity to develop their gross and fine motor skills as well as providing the environment to grow emotionally and socially.

Amanda left coaching in 2016 to be an optometric technician. She loved the challenge of learning something new and completely different, but she missed working with and helping kids. She is so excited to be part of the InSight Vision Therapy team and feels this is a great blend of her background and skills.

Amanda has one daughter, Evy. Together, they love baking, painting, various arts and crafts, and going to the theater (especially musical theater).

Madison was born and raised in the Rogue Valley and graduated from Ashland High School. She moved to Portland, Oregon, where she graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. After college she spent time working with kids struggling in the system. Having seen the struggles many of these children had with learning, she became interested in how the visual system affects day to day life.

Madison grew up with a brother who struggled with limited vision in one eye and witnessed how it directly affected his life. She feels her experiences have helped prepare her for the position at InSight Vision Therapy. She is thrilled to work with and learn from an amazing team.

Madison enjoys weekly game nights with her family. She is usually listening to music and spends much of her time with her beloved dog. She is often out hiking, working on house projects, or reading a good book.

Bekah has lived in Southern Oregon her entire life. She was homeschooled (years K-12) alongside her three sisters and loved the opportunity that gave her to specialize her learning and increase her community involvement.

She loves her church and enjoys working with kids of all ages. For the past several years, she has also been involved with both Joni and Friends Family Retreats, an organization dedicated to helping families affected by disability, and with Wilderness Trails, an organization that runs free summer camps for at-risk youth in Southern Oregon.

She enjoys both playing the guitar and listening to music, reading books of all genres (not a lot of Sci-Fi though), and crafting, especially knitting stuffed animals. She loves learning and is excited to have joined the team at InSight Vision Therapy and to have the chance to grow her skill set even further.
